Application Deadline: Friday, Nov 15, 2019
Description
Department: Digital Products
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt
End Date: Open Until Filled
We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed, we encourage you to apply.
Who We Are And What You’ll Do Here
The Digital Products department at Capital Public Radio is a small team including a project manager, a user experience designer, and a front-end developer. We each wear a lot of hats.
Our realm is “anything that isn’t broadcast.” For us that can mean the website, third-party services like our mobile app, and—potentially—rising platforms like smart speakers.
Our team serves two groups, both our public audience and internal staff. We create stand-alone solutions to serve our public audience directly, such as player.capradio.org, and strive to improve their experience using our products. And we empower CapRadio staff, and provide the tools to help them reach and serve our audience better.
As the web developer, your primary duties and responsibilities will be on the back-end of development and infrastructure. Typical tasks include creating a stored procedure to provide data to the CMS for a customized property, utilizing CMS-specific libraries to expose information for front-end rendering, creating a plan for media storage or optimizing site performance, ensuring up-time for the server, building a tool to automate a workflow process, participating in planning, and contributing your own ideas for improvements, features, or projects.
What We’re Looking For In A Teammate
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about coding and problem solving. Someone who is self-motivated and finds strength in collaborating. Someone who is excited about serving our audience. Someone who takes an idea and identifies ways that they can contribute to it, as well as brings their own ideas back to the group.
