Andrea Hansen joined Iowa Public Radio in 2017 as the Development Director. Her 25 year career to date includes a variety of roles in non-profit management and fundraising for a major hospital system and universities before joining public radio. At IPR, she oversees a team of 11 people tasked with raising around $8 million annually and in 2023 successfully raised an additional $8 million for IPR’s first-ever comprehensive campaign.

Andrea was born and raised in Central Iowa and grew up around radio, with her grandfather having owned and operated a radio station for many years in Perry. She even cut a few local commercials with him before she could even read!

Hansen is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Outside of work, Hansen enjoys seeking out adventures in food and travel, spending time with family, and keeping a sense of humor as she and her husband navigate being first-time parents to twin boys – who are now teenagers.
