We have a true affinity for public media.  As viewers, listeners, and donors to our hometown stations, we understand the value of public media programing and all that goes into making sure it continues.

Right now, we are looking to add a passionate public media enthusiast to our WPLN team in Nashville to help us grow revenue for our partner station: https://wpln.org/

 

What You Bring

  • Enthusiasm for breaking new business
  • Thrives on uncovering needs, developing & presenting win-win solutions for C Suite decision-makers
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of outside B2B sales and strategic account management, with a proven track record of success
  • Media background preferred
  • Broad based business acumen, understanding of the customer journey & ability to help sponsors with their marketing challenges
  • Finger on the pulse of the vibrant Nashville market and business community, a natural connector with a passion for networking

Oh, and you have to have a clean driving record.

This job will always be partially remote. You will, from time-to-time, need to go into the office (when we can) for meetings and collaboration – however, we want you out there selling, and we don’t mind if you do your paperwork or calls from the comfort of your living room couch.

You are our ideal candidate if…

  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ outside B2B sales and strategic account development & account management experience
  • You are skilled and motivated to close new business
  • You don’t cut corners; your confidence comes from being prepared
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills, develops trusted relationships
  • Media experience preferred
  • Keen understanding of digital media, and success in selling integrated programs including on-air, digital, events and cause marketing strategies a definite plus
  • A broad-based business acumen with marketing knowledge across multiple key categories
  • A strong understanding of the Nashville market including decision makers, local events, and key accounts. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling.  This includes marketing strategy and tactics and sales techniques
  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license

 

What a typical day might look like

We are all about collaboration! You’ll collaborate across the team, brainstorming ideas to open up new categories and gain new accounts. A people person, you will be reaching out to your network, engaging with business leaders, generating leads, working with our wonderful sponsors to create resonant, multimedia sponsorship packages. We encourage your curiosity and you’ll spend part of your day learning and developing your knowledge-base. Our days are varied! And Nashville’s NPR news and music stations are our inspiration & the soundtrack to our workdays.
