KJZZ/K-BACH is searching for an experienced development professional to serve as their Assistant Director for Development, working under the leadership of the Associate General Manager for Development. The department has a growing staff of more than a dozen development and media professionals.

The Assistant Director for Development will work closely with the AGM for Development to supervise development activities for the entire division, and will be responsible for contributing to the Division’s vision and the Development Department’s strategic plan. The Assistant Director for Development will be responsible for assisting in the execution of the Department’s strategic plan, in close collaboration with the AGM for Development.

We are searching for a person who has a passion for development, a mind for detail, a professional that is comfortable editing copy for broadcast and publication while also working on new member acquisition programs. This person will have a keen understanding of the role that traditional and new media marketing must play in the Division’s development program. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Development will be able to (1) supervise the work of others, (2) understand broadcast ratings, as well as development metrics, and (3) write messages that communicate with color, passion, and force.

Most importantly, we are searching for a professional that understands the power of teamwork and the need to build trust daily in a complex organization — by managing both up and down the organization.

Finally, we are searching for a professional that has a passion for public media – a person who believes that the work in developing membership, grant support, and nontraditional revenue is more than fundraising: it’s all about building a community of support for a vital media service that enriches the quality of life for its constituents, while providing the continuing education and information needed to preserve the democracy.
