Broadcast Host & Producer

KMUW 89.1 FM Wichita Public Radio
Wichita , KS

Application Deadline: Saturday, Jan 14, 2017

Description

KMUW is looking for an energetic, reliable and professional host, anchor and producer for Morning Edition. The Morning Edition host ensures the broadcast is responsive to breaking news and includes thoughtful and relevant content. This will include integrating regional and local news seamlessly into NPR, writing original stories and rewriting news into radio-friendly copy. The Morning Edition host provides an intelligent, professional and friendly personification of KMUW’s brand in the Wichita market. This individual must effectively engage diverse perspectives and experiences in their work product, communications and decision-making.

KMUW is more than a radio station, it’s a community. We’re located in the historic commercial district in downtown Wichita, housed in a recently renovated second-floor warehouse. The station is a bustling venue with frequent visits from volunteers, sponsors and other friends. We host dozens of events every year, and sponsor dozens more of other organizations’ events. Whether it’s the arts, music or running races, our people—and our logo—are out and about.
Our content is as strong as our community: in 2016 KMUW received the Large-Market Station of the Year award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for the third year in a row. Our news department of seven recently accepted a prestigious national Edward R. Murrow award for our original reporting. We produce several music shows in-house—two, Global Village and Strange Currency, are syndicated nationally and internationally. And we’re just getting started.
