Description
We seek determined, persuasive, skillful media sales professionals to join our team at WJCT. In this consultative outside sales position, you will sell television/radio sponsorship messages, digital media and event sponsorships. In addition, you will make cold-calls to decision makers at local businesses, meet with them to understand their marketing needs and develop proposals that offer marketing solutions to help them grow their businesses. This is a full lifecycle sales position in that you will prospect, conduct needs assessments, create and present proposals, close the deal, write copy and service the account.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE: |
- Prospect and cold-call decision makers at local businesses, perform client needs analysis in face to face meetings determining their individual marketing needs and deliver customized presentations;
- Achievement of all sales goals for TV/Radio/Digital underwriting, and event sponsorship opportunities;
- Deliver exceptional customer service;
- Build and maintain a positive on-going working relationship with client base while at the same time developing new business;
- Develop existing accounts to potential by marketing additional opportunities;
- Service accounts which include writing copy, working with other departments as necessary to produce and traffic underwriting spots;
- Understand and use radio/television/digital marketing research such as Arbitron, Nielsen, Media Audit, and Google Analytics. Keep up to date on product knowledge through industry websites;
- Represent WJCT at community networking events;
- Works with a client on past due amounts.
BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATIONS: |
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or Communications preferred &/or relevant equivalent experience;
- Looking for two ( 2) years sales experience, in B-2-B selling an intangible service, preferably broadcasting;
- Successful track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to write and present in a professional and motivating manner;
- Ability to communicate WJCT’s unique value proposition and importance to the community;
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and ability to formulate successful selling strategies;
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Effective time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and clients with timely and appropriate prioritization and goal attainment;
- Ability and willingness to accept and understand FCC rules and procedures;
- Ability to work as an individual contributor or a productive team member;
- Capacity to thrive in a deadline focused environment;
- Strong PC computer skills including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, PowerPoint, and CRM software such as Salesforce or ACT;
- Strong communication skills required including diplomacy, negotiating, writing correspondence, and oral presentations for both individuals and groups;
- Experience in dealing with business, corporations, and agencies on a professional level;
- Must be a self-starter able to work independently to prospect/obtain new clients;
- Strong attention to detail, time management, research and organizational skills;
- Understanding of or experience in non-profit fundraising a plus;
- Established business contacts a plus.
