- Director of Annual Giving & Corporate Support
The University of North Carolina Center for Public Television (UNC-TV), headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, invites applications for the position of Director of Annual Giving & Corporate Support. This position will provide the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to oversee a department that is responsible for raising over ten million dollars annually from major donors and planned giving through personal solicitations and relationship management, employing face-to-face meetings, special events, limited direct mail and email. The director is a vital management team member and reports directly to the senior director of advancement and marketing. This position has responsibility for coordinating and collaborating with senior leaders on developing UNC-TV’s fundraising strategies and long range strategic plans in their area of responsibility, as well as providing leadership and direction to the staff in her/his area of responsibility.The ideal candidate for this position must have:
• Department head-level experience in a multi-million-dollar organization.
• A minimum of two years’ successful major gift experience; solid experience in managing the areas of membership and major and planned giving.
• Participation in the MGI preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and success in fund-raising, cultivation, and solicitation.
• An understanding of and commitment to public broadcasting and/or North Carolina philanthropic community fund-raising experience is preferred.
• Experience with strategic planning.
• Experience in a deadline-sensitive, matrix-management work environment demanding high energy, positive, and flexible responsiveness to changing circumstances.
• Knowledge of annual fund and major and planned gift strategies, on-air pledging, direct mail, telemarketing, corporate and foundation requests, underwriting; and events planning; CRM (e.g., Team Approach, Red Point) systems; best practices in on-air fundraising; multi-screen ratings and measurements and how to embed that information into messaging.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational, mentoring, and feedback skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to keep track of a large number of details in a complex, dynamic, and diverse environment.
• Ability to clearly articulate UNC-TV’s mission, vision, and values.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including public-speaking.The ideal candidate for this job must be:
• A “people person,” an active listener, a facilitator, and a leader.
• Passionate about public broadcasting.
• Detail oriented with respect to analytics, record keeping and data collection.The ideal candidate for this position should be:
• Comfortable solving traditional challenges in innovative ways.
• Comfortable with change, ambiguity, value proposition and design thinking-based goals.Minimum requirements include a higher education degree and at least ten years related experience, or equivalent combination of experience/education. At least five years demonstrated successful management experience is also required. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
