Summary: Working in the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) Division of Advancement under the supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and working closely with the NPR Illinois General Manager, the Director of Development-NPR Illinois is primarily responsible for finding and acquiring sources of contributed revenue from individual donors. The successful candidate will plan strategies and actively seek major and annual gifts for the benefit of NPR Illinois at UIS. The position is responsible for managing the overall fundraising program of NPR Illinois. The position’s emphasis is on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors and prospects. The individual is expected to develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift prospects and have 12 or more face-to-face donor visits per month. This position is responsible for planning and implementing annual giving solicitations, including on-air drives, mass communications, and crowdfunding.
Qualifications/Minimum Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of combined professional experience in development, fundraising, donor relations, general management, or marketing; with at least 3 of those years demonstrating effectiveness and success in a major gifts environment; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in computer use; ability to multi-task and prioritize work; project planning and data analysis skills; and skill in interpersonal communications.
