KCLU
Thousand Oaks
,
CA
Application Deadline: Sunday, Jul 17, 2022
Description
Background: For nearly five years, KCLU has been the Nielsen Audio/RRC top-ranked station among 12+ listeners in the Oxnard Ventura and Santa Barbara markets on the south and central California coast with a weekly cume of approximately 130,000, a 4000-ish AQH and overall Loyalty of 50% KCLU consists of a five-station network that extends along the U.S. Highway 101 corridor from far southwestern Los Angeles County, northward through Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and up to the central coast city of San Luis Obispo. Like other parts of Southern California, the coastal counties we serve are an active news market. Accordingly, KCLU offers a round-the-clock mix of NPR, APM, PRX, BBC programming as well as comprehensive LOCAL news coverage. On the digital side, KCLU.ORG and the KCLU App offer on-demand local news, and our “One Oh One” podcast provides sound-rich storytelling that goes beyond KCLU’s daily coverage. KCLU’s three-person news operation is one of the most awarded small-market newsrooms in the country and has been recognized with hundreds of RTDNA, AP, Sigma Delta Chi and regional awards, including National Murrow and other honors. The region offers an unsurpassed quality of life and is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, arts and music lovers, gourmands and oenophiles. KCLU operates from a state-of-the art facility on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. Thousand Oaks is an “edge city” with a thriving biotech sector (it is global headquarters for Amgen), abundant green space, biking and hiking trails, an increasingly diverse population, low crime and excellent public schools.
