Description
East Tennessee State University is seeking applications to fill a vacancy for the Director of WETS-FM, a National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate. This position is responsible to the Senior Director for Strategic Communications for the operation of WETS-FM/HD. Additional responsibilities include:
- maintaining compliance with regulations from the Federal Communications Commission and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting;
- maintaining responsibility for the annual budget;
- supervising the staff, interns, and volunteers;
- generating a significant portion of the annual budget through the planning and execution of semi-annual fundraising campaigns as well as ongoing fundraising activities;
- directing the creation of original programming and maintaining responsibility for a portion of the programming;
- supporting various multimedia projects for the Office of University Marketing and Communications;
- creating and supporting a strategic plan for the station to serve as a media and culture lab;
- providing guidance and assistance to other producers to ensure quality programming;
- maintaining responsibility for community outreach, representing both the station and the university to the public working in partnership with various community organizations;
- working with various university entities to assist with public outreach and/or technical assistance for specific projects; and,
- performing other related duties as assigned.
