Description

The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) seeks an Executive Director/GM to oversee the day-to-day operations of the network, fiscal administration and management, and long-range planning and development of digital applications.

About OETA & FOETA:

From humble beginnings in a basement classroom, the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) is now a statewide network that provides a diverse fare of television programs to viewers across Oklahoma and in surrounding states. In 1956 OETA began with one transmitting station, little money, limited broadcast hours and a small and an almost immeasurable audience. Today, with OETA’s statewide network of four transmitting stations and 14 translator stations, more than 650,000 viewers tune into

OETA on a weekly basis. OETA is America’s most-watched Public Broadcasting Service network.

OETA is licensed to the state of Oklahoma and operates as a public/private partnership. OETA is supported by both public and private funds. State funds provide for some of OETA’s operational expenses including helping to fund OETA’s extensive statewide network. OETA is responsible for maintaining the state’s infrastructure for the PBS Warning, Alert, and Response Network (WARN) system, which provides a path between the Federal Emergency Management Agency and cellular service providers to relay important emergency information statewide via cellular networks.

OETA provides essential educational content and services that inform, inspire and connect Oklahomans to ideas and information that enrich our quality of life. We do this by consistently engaging Oklahomans with educational and public television programming, providing educational training and curriculum, outreach initiatives and online features that collectively encourage lifelong learning.

OETA funding is comprised of dollars dedicated from the State of Oklahoma, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and financial support from individual donors and foundations throughout the state of Oklahoma.

Friends of OETA, Inc. (FOETA) is an independent nonprofit charitable organization that exists solely to advocate for and support OETA. FOETA’s Board of Trustees is appointed with approval by the OETA Board of Directors and the relationship between OETA and FOETA is governed under a written agreement that is regularly reviewed by the leaders of the two entities. FOETA currently stewards nearly $60 million in non-appropriated funds held for the exclusive benefit of OETA.
