Description
KOOP Radio seeks an Executive Director. The Executive Director will be an experienced leader who embraces the cooperative principles of the organization as part of the vibrant cooperative community in Austin. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall business management of the station and will work with the Board and staff to establish and implement the station’s long range goals and strategies.
Primary Responsiblities
- Oversee financial management, including financial reporting, annual financial review, and developing annual budget;
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws including FCC regulations and maintaining PCI compliance;
- Develop comprehensive fundraising plan;
- Work with Development Coordinator in fundraising development, taking a lead role in major gift development and grants;
- Work with Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plan;
- Work with Board of Directors in Board recruitment;
- Develop and expand relationships with other community organizations;
- Direct volunteer team leads and Volunteer Coordinator in organizing activities and prioritizing volunteer tasks;
- Enforce policies established by the Board of Directors;
- Supervise staff (Development Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Bookkeeper) and manage the underwriting development independent contractor
- Resolve volunteer conflicts
Education / Experience / Capabilities / Knowledge
- Affinity for KOOP’s mission;
- Experience with financial management and fundraising; Comprehensive understanding of public media fundraising strategies preferred, such as: membership, underwriting, and major and planned giving;
- Minimum of four years in nonprofit management/leadership position; community or public broadcasting preferred
- Ability to work in extreme diversity of opinion and culture;
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in communications, business administration, public administration, nonprofit management or other related field;
- Experience with digital marketing, digital campaigns and organizational metrics, preferred;
- Demonstrated record of community engagement and collaboration, and of developing partnerships with individuals and organizations;
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills, both written and oral
- Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, traffic and fundraising software systems, accounting software, presentation software, etc.
- Effective team leader who seeks input and consensus
