Description

WICN Public Radio, Inc., an NPR-affiliate located in Worcester, MA, is seeking a full-time Membership Director reporting to the Executive Director. This individual is responsible for growing the station’s membership base and leading all individual membership activities, including revenue generation and financial performance, database management, community partnerships, and oversight of related marketing materials, and staff and volunteer management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute quarterly on-air fund drives – develop on-air scripts, communications and training for on-air hosts and volunteers; acquire thank-you gifts, challenge grants, in-kind and cash donation from organizations/businesses/individual donors, including food for fund drives; and monitor, track and report drive results against goals.
  • Plan, execute and track on-air, online and print membership strategies including creating on-air spots and content for website, e-newsletter and social media, and print material to promote membership
  • Manage all aspects of membership administration and the donor database – provide oversight and supervision to individuals performing data entry related to donations (acknowledgement letters and thank you gifts, credit card processing and maintenance, year-end tax receipts, weekly check/cash deposits, monthly bulk mail preparation of renewal and additional gift solicitations); oversee report generation for Accounting, Auditors, Board and Management.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision to Membership Services Coordinator. This includes performance management activities; e.g., goal setting, feedback, training and development.
  • Perform Membership Analysis, including preparing reports on trends, comments, and/or problems in membership area and developing plans to retain and grow membership
  • Plan and implement membership benefits and events, including a major focus on increasing monthly donors, donor engagement and recognition.
  • Provide input to WICN’s budgeting process regarding membership-related revenue and expenses.
  • Work closely with management and the Board of Directors on the development of a Major Donor Program.
  • Answer membership queries and concerns via phone, email or letter to provide excellent customer service.
  • Attend events and represent WICN in the community, as needed.

Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience, with at least 1 year in a fundraising management role
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization a plus
  • Solid knowledge of various computer applications, include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and database systems required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail critical
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience leading and motivating others
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills working collaboratively within a team environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree desired; Master’s or MBA a plus
