Description
KRCL 90.9 is a community radio station based in Salt Lake City that broadcasts a mix of music and public affairs programming on multiple platforms. We’re looking for a Membership Manager with a minimum of three years of experience in organizing and implementing nonprofit fundraising strategies, preferably in public media. The Membership Manager is responsible for creating and executing an integrated, multi-channel (on-air, direct mail, email, and social media) fundraising strategy for retaining and acquiring recurring and one-time members. Experience working in Public Media donor campaigns is preferred. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
As a non-commercial community radio station launched in 1979, our public service mission is to inspire, entertain and inform. KRCL’s music programming is curated by a staff of paid and volunteer DJs who feature local and touring artists as well as emerging bands. Tune-in and hear music ranging from Bob Marley and The Grateful Dead to The Black Pumas, Lizzo, Lake Street Dive and Lukas Nelson. Our public affairs programming passes the mic to people and organizations making a positive change in our community.

Required Skills
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational and team work skills, as well as a working knowledge of spreadsheet and CRM applications, including the ability to learn new applications. An understanding of specialized membership database and web donation software is preferred. Ability to successfully work to deadlines is necessary. Flexibility to work weekends, nights, and extended hours at various times of the year.
General Job Description
- Responsible for the development and achievement of the annual individual giving budget.
- Develop strategies to raise funds through on-air fund drives, direct mail and email, social media, and other campaigns.
- Manage relationships with major donors ($1000+ annual giving level).
- Design targeted fundraising appeals in order to develop higher renewal rates, increased levels of giving, and growth of the donor base.
- Evaluate the success of the membership program throughout the year and make necessary adjustments to meet goals.
- Practice donor-centered fundraising.
- Establish relationships with colleagues and professionals within the public media system to learn about and adopt best practices in fundraising and membership.
Duties include
- Act as the primary point of contact for donor needs and concerns, including in-person, phone, email and voicemail management and interaction, thank you gift program and donor events.
- Plan and execute all direct mail, email, on-air and digital fundraising initiatives, including developing content for all member-related correspondence.
- Raise funds and meet financial goals through membership pledges and renewals.
- Manage daily preparation of cash receipts, bank deposits, charge transactions, donation approvals and other functions of the membership records system as well as monthly donation billing and renewal notices.
- Responsible for major donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Ensure that fundraising drives run smoothly and meet goals by crafting compelling donation solicitation copy.
- Assist with premium selection and oversee ordering and fulfillment, donation billing and thank you letters to donors.
- Maintain the overall integrity, security and quality of the donor database through data hygiene and mailing list management.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of various membership campaigns.
- Remain current through self-directed reading, developing contacts with colleagues and attending professional development seminars.
- Responsible for the management, process control, security, privacy and data accuracy of donor records, communications, data collection and financial activity.
- Thorough understanding of Allegiance donor CRM, PCI compliance, and ability to manage multiple vendors, call center, merchant card processor and in-house shipping.
- Contribute to the overall success of the station by performing other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is $40,000-$50,000 per year, with a possibility of a moving stipend for out-of-town candidates. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Provided benefits include fully-paid medical, dental, vision, and long-term disability insurance, as well as a SIMPLE IRA plan with company match.
