Summary

CapRadio’s Finance team leads the station’s accounting and finance functions ensuring long-term strategies and impactful accounting and reporting activities that guide and support our station’s mission. This team champions management over the stations budget, transactions and the assets that sustain our facilities, staffing and community centered initiatives.

As a Senior Accountant you will help oversee the station’s financial systems and controls that are critical to our organizational development and the station’s functionality by assisting with the day-to-day financial tasks and communications. Typical functions include implementing new systems and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Finance, coordinating with other team members to complete projects, performing accurate and effective accounting and reporting functions and investigating, auditing and resolving financial discrepancies.

Position Responsibilities:

• Maintain general ledger accounts according to generally accepted accounting standards and reconcile them monthly to ensure timely and accurate reporting Analyze, investigate and contribute to resolution of account variances and discrepancies
• Communicate effectively with staff across the organization to increase understanding of financial transactions and processes, as well as adherence to approved budgets
• Make daily bank deposits (Monday-Friday), enter banking transaction in the general ledger daily, and perform a daily review to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Keep track of station trades and in-kind contributions
• Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset schedules
• Perform timely and accurate account reconciliations using Marketron, our billing software, and Raiser’s Edge, our donor management software
• Assist the Director of Finance in month-end close procedures, including developing and maintaining schedule and files on asset and liability account balances
• Assist the Director of Finance in preparing for audits by both internal and external entities
• Support junior finance department staff as needed under the supervision of the Director of Finance

Qualifications/Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a degree in progress with an expected completion date within one year
• Three or more years of progressive responsibility in accounting
• Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures
• Proven ability to work effectively with other staff members at all levels to resolve problems and discrepancies
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Successful experience in managing a variety of concurrent activities and projects on deadline and with strong attention to accuracy
• Ability to work independently to achieve business objectives that meet CapRadio and GAAP standards

This role is deemed essential and will require an on-site presence at least 90% of the time. You must be able to commute to our Sacramento, CA office. We’re open to discussing a hybrid schedule that would include occasional remote work approximately 10% of the time.

After the pandemic, this position requires 90% on-site work from our Sacramento office, with the possibility of working from home up to 10% of the time per week.

The hourly compensation for this role is $62,400-$71,300 per year. CapRadio also offers:
