The Senior Editor, Digital Content is charged with strategic oversight of CapRadio’s News, Music and Community Engagement presence on digital platforms. Overseeing our digital team, the SED ensures CapRadio’s web presence is user-focused. The SED helps maintain quality and consistency on all CapRadio digital platforms, prioritizes daily and long-range activities, edits existing content and creates original content in support of CapRadio’s News and Music programs, formats and journalism. The SED identifies ways to increase traffic and brand visibility and possesses the ability to work with a wide range of staff and content needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates on creating and carrying out strategic vision for Content and Community Engagement
- Determines digital coverage priorities each day, coordinating across all platforms to maximize listener impact and station resources
- Updates, reviews and copy edits reporters’ hosts, contributors’ online stories
- Leads in building out daily stories on digital platforms
- Exercises quality control of capradio.org. Evaluates the user experience for maximum engagement
- Evaluates Digital coverage and identifies growth needs; determines ways to develop individual staff and the digital team
- Creates and maintains key connections between the Digital Team and the rest of the Content Department
- During breaking news and/or developing stories is responsible for timely and accurate news feed on all digital platforms
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience with data journalism and understanding of its purpose and processes
- Excellent writer and proofreader
- Experienced in creating content for online presentation
- Demonstrated excellence in news judgment and ability to generate engaging story ideas
- Expertise in news gathering, writing, editing, copyediting and media production for short-form and long-form reports and productions
- Familiar with content management systems
- Adept at using CMS applications, Adobe Creative Suite (including Audition and Photoshop) and mastery of working in HTML/CSS
- Ability to work well with accuracy under tight deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Team oriented; effective communication and interpersonal skills
- At least 3 years’ experience in position connected to digital content
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field preferred
- Public Broadcasting experience preferred
